Guidance Services
Counseling Services has its own career information center: college catalogues, vocational and technical school information, pamphlets, videos, and audiotapes on a wide variety of topics are available. Career prep/development is addressed by each counselor in their corresponding grade level. Counselor referrals are appropriate when major emergencies (physical/sexual abuse, suicidal ideation/gestures, chemical dependency issues, etc.) occur with parents and students. Counselors can access community agencies and coordinates services with the school. A Student Assistance Program (S.A.P.) referral, as well as appointments, may also be made through the counselor. Because of the variety of services provided by the Department, it is necessary to assign specific responsibilities to each department member.
